WHAT TONE 40 AUDITING IS

In the DIANETICS AND SCIENTOLOGY TECHNICAL DICTIONARY Tone 40 Auditing is defined in this way:

„TONE 40 AUDITING, 1. positive, knowing, predictable control toward the preclear’s willingness to be at cause concerning his body and his attention. (HCOB 3 Jul 59) 2. control by direct tone 40 command. (HCOB 2 Apr 58)“

„TONE 40 COMMAND“ in the TECHNICAL DICTIONARY is defined as: „intention without reservation. (HCOB 1 Dec 65)“

TWO TYPES OF AUDITING

In HCO B of April 2, 1958 ARC IN COMM COURSE, LRH says:

„There are two types of Auditing. Both include control. They are called ‘Formal Auditing’ and ‘Tone 40 Auditing’.

„The first is control by ARC. The second is Control by direct Tone 40 command.

„The first control by ARC, is taught in Comm Course. The second Control by Tone 40, is taught in Upper Indoc.

„The two are never mixed in teaching. Tone 40 is never taught in a Comm Course and is not even permitted. ARC is not taught in Upper Indoc. “

„Students must understand that there are two types of auditing. They should realize that Tone 40 is for the unconscious, the psycho, the non-communicative, the electric shock case PC. The student should realize that ARC formal auditing is not chatty or yap-yap, but it is itself. It has warmth, humanity, understanding and interest in it. “

TONE 40 GROUP AUDITING

Of course when doing Tone 40 Group Auditing, the Group Auditor would not be auditing „…the unconscious, the psycho, the non-communicative, the electric shock case PC. “

Those kinds of people would be handled in individual auditing, not in Group Auditing.

So, Group Auditors must realize that there are two types of Group Auditing: Tone 40 Group Auditing and Formal Group Auditing.

Prior to 1957, the Group Auditing that was done was Formal Group Auditing.

From 1957 onwards as LRH says: „All group auditing is done from Tone 40.0. “ (HCOB 8 April 1957 GROUP AUDITING.)

This means the Group Auditor must know what Tone 40 is, what Tone 40 Auditing or Tone 40 Group Auditing is if the Group Auditor is to run it on any group.

The Group Auditor must be trained in how to do Tone 40 Group Auditing. His training should include Upper Indoc’s. And of course he should be trained up as a Group Auditor and do plenty of practice Tone 40 Group sessions.

Then the Group Auditor will be able to do Tone 40 Group Auditing and do it well! As a result, we’ll end up with a cleared planet on our hands.

That’s our goal, isn’t it?
